My Singapore Food Street

Last May 1, since it was Labor Day holiday, I decided to spend it with my long time friends -- my grade school barkada. Malling and food tripping was the order of the day. While we were walking in Megamall, we spotted this restaurant that was, well new to me.

My Singapore Food Street boasts of the fusion food that people who have been to Singapore are raving about. I haven't been to Singapore, but I'm familiar with some of the food here, since I've tasted Thai, Indian and Indonesian food already.

And so the careful examination of the menu begins. We were actually sold at the site of Nasi Goreng and Hainanese Chicken!

Nasi Goreng - a bagoong rice like version of fried rice.

Hainanese Chicken - steamed/poached chicken served with ginger, soy sauce and chili sauce

We seated ourselves at a booth so we have comfy seats. :) The restaurant is kind of like a self-service kind of thing where you order food at the counter and they serve it afterwards to your table.

We ordered the Nasi Goreng (Php175) to share, quarter serving of Hainanese Chicken (Php230), 5 Spice Tofu (Php85), 4 pieces of Chicken Satay (around Php100) and a Peach Iced Tea for me and a Watermelon Shake for Jean. Big spread for two women.

Their Nasi Goreng lacked heat and well, spice. It said in the menu that it's spicy. But it is actually mildly spiced and heated for my taste. The first time I tasted this in Jakarta, boy, it was spicy! Autenthic. So this can be improved actually. The Hainanese Chicken, well tasted like Hainanese Chicken. I haven't tasted an authentic, so I don't know the difference. =p
Chicken Satay - Asian version of chicken barbecue, served with peanut sauce.
Their Chicken Satay, was good, and the peanut sauce was a surprise. It has hints of curry which I liked. Their tofu was soft, but again mildly spiced. It could use a little more heat for my taste. Yes, I like my food spicy like that. A true blue Bicolana for you. :)

5 Spice Tofu
The experience was overall good,. We were stuffed. The ambiance was okay, but the food.. Hmm... It can be improved. We spotted an Asian lady chef that I remembered watching in Asian Food Channel (but forgot the name) with her family eating there too.

If you are craving for some Asian food, you can find My Singapore Food at the 2F of SM Megamall Bridgeway.

Happy eating!

Control Freak

I think I want to write something.
I have lots in my mind, more in my heart.
But my mind tells me not to write about it.

I think I want to say something.
I have lots in my mind, more in my heart.
But my minds tells me not to say a word.

Just writing a bit of, kind of poetry. I haven't done so in a long, long while. The last time I wrote one, I was mending a broken heart. When you get older, I realized, you get more emotional. Not the "emo" type that I was way back in college or highschool. I get more emotional in every turn, because I realize that this is now my life. So far from all the stories I have in my head that I have written down meticulously. I get more emotional because a lot of it, has been scratched off my paper and there are still many blank pages and spaces waiting to be written on.

I think I want to do something.
I have lots in my mind, more in my heart.
But my heart tells me one thing,
My mind tells me otherwise.
